Welcoming David J. Hebert to EPERN's Leadership Team
We're excited to welcome David J. Hebert to the EPERN leadership team as Associate Director. Hebert's addition to our ranks marks a significant milestone in our ongoing journey towards fostering a vibrant and collaborative network among scholars interested in entangled political economy. Dave will take charge of our virtual seminar series for the 2023-2024 academic year, bringing fresh energy and innovative ideas. We’re eager to see how the seminars evolve and flourish under his guidance.
Dave is currently an Associate Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Markets, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship at Aquinas College. Many in the EPERN community also know him as the co-editor of the 2020 volume, "Emergence, Entanglement, and Political Economy."
Hebert completed his Bachelor's in Economics from Hillsdale College in 2009 and obtained his Masters(2011) and Doctorate (2014) from George Mason University. In his grad school journey, he was affiliated with the Mercatus Center as an F.A. Hayek Fellow and collaborated with the U.S. Congress's Joint Economic Committee. Post-academia, he served as an Assistant Professor at Ferris State University and Troy University and also contributed as a Fellow to the U.S. Senate Budget Committee. Hebert's research prowess spans public choice and finance, probing into the intricate nature of tax codes in democracies. He questions why such codes often remain complicated despite public demand for simplicity. His insights have found a place in both academic journals and mainstream platforms, including The Hill and The Daily Caller.
