2023 Summer Reading Group

Want to learn more about entangled political economy, and have interesting conversations with experts and peers about entangled approaches to the economy, politics, and liberty?

The Entangled Political Economy Research Network (EPERN) is convening its Summer Reading Group for 2023, and you are invited to join!

The Summer Reading Group consists of three sessions during this coming summer to discuss the key texts of entangled political economy. Preassigned readings are available, covering the following topics:

• Session 1: Foundations of entangled political economy (Tuesday, July 18, 2023, 2.30pm US EDT).

• Session 2: The entangled fiscal and regulatory state (Tuesday, August 1, 2023, 2.30pm US EDT).

• Session 3: Applying the entangled framework to social policies (Tuesday, August 15, 2023, 2.30pm US EDT).

Each session is facilitated by an academic moderator, and will be conducted via the Zoom online platform.

The Summer Reading Group is an excellent opportunity to gain a strong understanding of the origins of entangled political economy, its key elements, and its relationship to other streams of economic thought. The Group also allows participants to network with scholarly peers, and to share ideas and perspectives about the entangled political economy approach.

Registration and participation in the Summer Reading Group is free, but available spots are limited. Participants who successfully complete all three sessions will receive a payment valued at $200!

The Entangled Political Economy Summer Reading Group is supported by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

Additional details about the Summer Reading Group, including application process, are available at the “Summer Reading Group” page on the EPERN website (https://www.entangledpoliticaleconomy.org). Direct inquiries may be sent to Mikayla Novak (mnovak@mercatus.gmu.edu). Applications close on Friday, June 9, 2023.
